Date Night with Alex Grant: Sixteen Candles

Picking an outfit for Samantha Baker was actually kinda tricky. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to replicate her wool flannel/cropped T look, her floral jumper or pink dress. I decided on her pink outfit for the prom. I mean, can you talk about Molly Ringwald without thinking of pink and frilly? Not being a personal fan of pink (or frilly), I wanted to toughen up her outfit a bit. Instead of a rhinestone brooch and pink ballet flats I gave her a Fenton/Fallon necklace and black gladiator sandals. And you can’t forget the panties she so sweetly “lent” to young Anthony Michael Hall. Such a generous heart that Samantha.

  1. Love this! Glad you went with her outfit at the school dance. The pink number from Shopbop is perfect and flirty. And great choice to add the gladiator sandals!
