L.L. Bean Signature: Herringbone Check Skirt

I’m in love with the Herringbone Check Skirt from L.L. Bean Signature’s Winter collection. With an attractive check pattern in autumnal colors and a flattering bias cut, this gorgeous Italian wool skirt will be the perfect alternative to your basic jeans this winter. Perfectly styled here with boots and a turtleneck, the look reminds me a little of Andrew Wyeth’s paintings of Helga.

Thanks again to Mary Rose and Laurie from Bean for the image!

  1. I think that skirt is pretty awesome looking, especially up close (where you can see the herringbone pattern), but am I correct in assuming that this may be flattering on a limited number of body types (i.e.- tall & slim)?

    • Many people may agree with you on that. Standing only at 5’3″, I often steer away from long skirts. I think the bias cut (fitted at the hip and bells out slightly at the hem) is considered a universally flattering shape. Kind of like how bootcut jeans are considered universally flattering for all types. In all likelihood, it probably would look stunning on the tall sort but I still think it would be awesome on us shorter lasses (we may need to hem like 6in though!).
