Today I had the pleasure of taking photos of the new home furnishings shop and interior design studio Twelve Chairs, located in the Fort Point neighborhood. Just a hop, skip, and a jump from where I work, a colleague (who introduced me to this new Boston treasure) and I took a lunch break to take some photos of the space and chat with the lovely ladies behind Twelve Chairs. Roisin and Miggy met during college, both majoring in Interior Design at Cornell University. With over ten years of retail, management, and design experience, they decided to create a shop/studio that, “promotes the idea that beautiful design and respect for the planet and its people do not have to be mutually exclusive.” I love their concept and how they perfectly edit the wares and hardware that their shop carries. Each piece has to meet their People and Planet Principles. The principles include local support; healthy, non-toxic, and recyclable production and materials; and business responsibility through fair trade and values. Miggy and Roisin have exciting things planned for Twelve Chairs, especially leading up to the holidays. They are the most gracious hosts and once you’ve stepped through their doors, you’ll wish you could stay forever.
