Date Night with Alex Grant: Annie Hall

Skip and his wife Tisha were watching Annie Hall this week and realized how perfect it was for Date Night! This great movie is iconic for style – women’s style in particular. As the eccentric Annie Hall, Diane Keaton single handedly made menswear cool and sexy for women. And men and women love her for it! I absolutely love this look on her, and for any woman. It’s so easy and comfortable but clean and tailored at the same time.  I do find her tie a bit goofy and overpowering for someone of my stature (5’3″), so I slimmed it down with a Hill-Side chambray selection. This is a great versatile look for any date.  Whether it’s a sit down dinner or a stroll through the park, you’ll look stunning.

I highlighted her on my blog sometime last year (or at least I remember writing something, maybe it’s still in my ‘draft’ pile? *goes to check*) but this is definitely one of my favorite films, wardrobe wise. I can swoon over her all day…

  2. Post a link to your write up here in the comments. I know people would love to read it!!!

  3. This is great- I actually referenced Diane Keaeton too when trying to decide on new glasses frames.

Even beyond Annie Hall, I think she is so spot on with her style. Utterly, comfortably, unapologetically her.

    Love it. Great post!

  4. Thanks April! We definitely have fun doing the Date Nights.

Rachel, I completely agree with you! Diane Keaton is spot on every time in my book.

A week after I purchased these big tortoise shell glasses online from Fred Flare, PBS aired Annie Hall. That’s when I realized I was channeling her eyeglass choice:
