Daniel Winkler, Master Bladesmith

Recently I stumbled upon Daniel Winkler, a master bladesmith who specializes in making cutlery inspired by frontier America. Winkler made his first knife in 1975 as part of a project to outfit himself as an authentic woodsman of the 18th century. During the 18th century, the equipment and tools a man carried were out of necessity and a means of survivial. The idea of preserving this utilitarian way of life inspired Winkler to become a full time bladesmith. Among his many awards and projects, Winkler designed the knives and tomahawks for one of my favorite films, The Last of the Mohicans. His knives will last a life time and can be passed down through generations – making a Winkler knife the perfect present for the man in your life.

    These are incredible finds.
The “Last of the Mohicans” is one of my favorites as well – Daniel Day Lewis certainly has one of these on hand at all times, Natie Bumpo or not.
