Unlike some, NYFW doesn’t really send me into an excited frenzy. That being said, there are a few brands that I very much looking forward to seeing every year. Billy Reid is one of them. This brand has been a favorite since I saw a collection at Capsule trade show several years back. I had admired the clothing online for its decidedly southern character and classic silhouettes, but it wasn’t until seeing the craftsmanship in person that I truly fell in love. The materials are luxurious in texture and quality and the tailoring is impeccable. Founder Billy Reid designs the collections from his home base of Florence, AL and employs artisan factories in the USA and Europe to bring them to life. I continue to be impressed with the quality, authenticity, and heritage of his designs. It’s always a pleasure to get a sneak peek of the runway presentation hosted at the new Highline Hotel with their behind-the-scenes videos (above). I’ve included some of my favorite looks from the collection (photos via GQ). And be sure to stop by the website and admire my friend Mikael Kennedy’s photography of the S/S 2014 collection (a couple below). His work for them is spectacular and I wish it was available as a printed booklet.
