I spent this long Presidents’ weekend working on a new website for my illustration work. For those of you who don’t know, I do freelance illustration in my spare time. Some of my work appears here on N’East Style – the banner, a critter here and there, a sketch or two. Using my original artwork to brand this site when I started in 2009 is actually what led to receiving commissions. Thanks to a few folks early on who asked for a logo for their blog or an icon for their stationary, I’ve been able to build up a client list and collaborate with some incredible people. I would say 99% of my commissions to date have been folks approaching me either through word of mouth or from stumbling onto my site. So this year I decided it’s time to go out and promote my work (I hate talking about myself, so this is a big challenge for me). I’m hoping this will lead to working with more incredible people, brands, and magazines and doing illustrations for clients that I only dreamed of having the opportunity to work with in the past. Thank you all for the support you’ve given over the years and a special thanks to a few of my first illustration supporters: Terrapin Stationers & Engraving Co., Well Spent, Buckshot Sonny’s, and Red Clay Soul.
